remote access fraud and
lost 5 lakh rupees.
The fraud occurred when the
man called his TV service
provider and was instructed
to download the AnyDesk app.
AnyDesk's primary use case
is in providing customer
support and remote
guidance.
The man discovered a
fraudulent transaction
had taken place from
his bank account after
downloading the app.
The incident occurred
on January 14th, 2023
in Thane, Maharashtra.
The victim immediately
informed the police of
the incident.
The police have registered the
case under Indian Penal Code
Section 420 (cheating) and
provisions of the Information
Technology Act.
